Rob Stegmann joined the
Cornerstone faculty in January 2008 as Lecturer in
Biblical Studies. In this capacity, Rob is responsible for
teaching Old and New Testament Survey modules as well as
more focused modules in the area of New Testament Studies
(such as the Pauline Writings, among others). He also
supervises final-year students who are writing their
biblical studies senior project paper.
Rob has been involved in theological education, at various
levels, for the past seven years. During this time, Rob
lectured at the Baptist Theological College of Southern
Africa (Randburg) and at Rhema Bible College, teaching in
the areas of New Testament Studies, Systematic Theology,
Church History, and Youth Studies.
In 2005 Rob took up a pastoral position with St. Martin’s
Anglican Church in Cape Town, where he served for three
years. It was during this time that he took on the
responsibility to establish a Bible School for the church.
Rob is currently working on his PhD through the University
of Cape Town. His research focus is in the Pauline
letters, with particular emphasis on Paul’s use of the
Septuagint in the argument of First Corinthians. His
theological training includes a BTh (Hons) through the
University of Zululand and a MA (NT) through the Rand
Afrikaans University.
Rob has a passion for teaching and for the Bible. Through
his appreciation for the beauty of the text of Scripture,
Rob invites his students to gain fresh, and sometimes
deeply challenging, insight into their understanding of
the God revealed there. It is his conviction is that the
text of Scripture not only carries the capacity to
transform lives by effecting a conversion of the
imagination, but that it calls its hearers to creative
improvisation in the world.
Rob and his wife live in Muizenberg and enjoy the
outdoors, gardening, and camping.
