With
parents very involved in the Anglican Church, my going
to church at an early age was a natural progression.
Having started to play music semi – professionally
from the age of thirteen this eventually rolled into
an eight year musical career after I had completed my
compulsory military training. In 1990 I got a ‘real
job’ leaving Durban for Cape Town in 1992.
My
career gathered momentum and 4 years later I moved
into the Sales Director role of a listed company. I
slid back into the world lured by the attraction of
material wealth, and my communion with the Lord was
only when in times of trouble. His presence though was
continually felt. In 2003 I recommitted my life to the
Lord and was led into the harvest field of Nigeria.
During the next three to four years I would be given a
secular job to fund my ministry. In Lagos the Lord
educated me rapidly, taking me into worship leading in
a Church which needed to be “taken out of the Book of
Maps, and led into the Book of Acts!”
From
Lagos to Ghana as Managing Director of the same
company, we joined a spirit-filled Church in which we
as a family grew both in responsibilities in the
fellowship, as well as in strengthened faith and
commitment. I got my first “feel” of what Pastoral
life would be like and thrived on it! A company I had
been part of in SA tasked me to set up a micro –
lending operation in Dar es Salaam for them. In
Tanzania we were part of an
expatriate
Church where, besides Worship Leading, I began to
preach and teach which I absolutely loved. During this
time the Lord worked through me in healing ailments in
a mighty way. A gifting I never knew I had Six months
after setting the business up the Lord convicted me. I
prayed, “Lord, You have brought me here, how can You
convict me for what You have led me to do?” I finally
heeded the conviction and resigned without a job to go
to! A giant leap of faith! Shortly after resigning I
fasted and sought the Lord on what His plans for me
were. He gave me clear direction through a vision
where I was standing on the slope of a hill holding
something in both my hands but looking down over a
multitude of people as far as the eye could see down
below all dressed in robes. When I looked at what I
was holding in my hands it was a scroll, and at the
top left hand corner was inscribed, in italics,
“Ezekiel’s Call”.
We got
back to South Africa in December of 2006 and I went
straight into studio recording my second Christian
album, ‘Souled Out…for Jesus’. The Lord then led us to
the Protea Valley Family Church in Bellville. I was
offered a Sales Management position by one of the
members of our Praise and Worship team and spent just
over a year with his company. A great friend of mine
and member of our team then had a vision that her and
her husband were to sponsor me in full – time study
toward a Bachelor of Theology degree! We prayed on it
and the excitement in the Spirit was the answer!
Going back
to study after thirty odd years working has been
challenging but the quality of lecturing,
professionalism, motivation, and absolute care of the
lecturers and all attached to Cornerstone Christian
College has made it a whole lot easier. It is a
phenomenal experience being part of a family in the
true sense of the word. I am extremely glad to have
chosen to be part of the College. |
