Wayne Herman
Dr Wayne Herman, originally
from Seattle, Washington (USA), initially taught at
Cornerstone Christian College (then CEBI) on a two-year
contract in 1990 and 1991, and then returned to the
College in 2001, assuming his current position as Academic
Dean. As the Dean Dr Herman is responsible for the
integrity and quality of Cornerstone's academic
programmes, and works closely with the Heads of
Department, Registrar, and Faculty Manager to achieve
this. He also teaches Theology and New Testament Studies
modules.
Dr Herman's theological training included an MDiv with a
focus in Missions (Western Conservative Baptist Seminary,
Portland, Oregon) and a PhD in Systematic Theology (Fuller
Theological Seminary, Pasadena, California). His
particular area of interest is the New Testament concept
of the kingdom of God and its implications for one's
theology and Christian praxis. He enjoys helping students
discover anew the wonder, beauty and complexity of New
Testament texts, and challenging them to think deeply
about theological concepts and their implications for
one's beliefs, values, attitudes and practices as a
Christian. He has published several articles in recent
years exploring such concepts as the kingdom of God,
stewardship, the Great Reversal, and the Eucharist.
Dr Herman and his wife serve as missionaries with Africa
Inland Mission, seconded to Cornerstone as their primary
place of service. Dr Herman also serves as an elder in his
church with responsibility for the church's local mission
initiatives. He and his family enjoy a ministry of
hospitality and encouragement with students, alumni, and
others. He is also an avid runner and enjoys travelling
and camping with his family.
